ADVERTISING AWARDS

Every advertising agency and creative professional is thrilled to win an award. However, many award-winning campaigns do absolutely nothing for the client. A Yellow Pages ad may never win an award, but can make a big impact on product sales.

The point I'm trying to make is that "good" isn't necessarily based on the amount you spend or the awards you win - it's about getting the strategy right, and implementing that strategy efficiently.

RECENT CLIENTS

NNPR - one of 6 SABS approved number plate manufacturers in South Africa. Although the company is 15 years old, this is their first website and it is aimed at BEE entrepreneurs. We wrote all content and took the photographs.

Tegmul Engineering - This engineering company in Vereeniging has an impressive track record in large infrastructure projects. They required a new branding strategy and marketing material including a website, proposal template and presentation as well as copywriting services.

African Cruising Tours - This Bike touring company with an international market. The photo gallery is done solely through CSS to keep maintenance costs down.

Imvusa - Just one page, but it's high-impact! We assisted with marketing and branding strategy and designed their logo, business cards and letterheads.

Africa Bike Week -an International bike rally held every Easter on the KwaZulu Natal Coast. InterComm provides all the text, and works within the strict corporate identity guidelines set by Harley-Davidson for the rallies they sponsor.

Volco Enterprises - a distributor and agent for high-end audio visual systems and automated smart homes. InterComm also designed their logo, business cards and supporting marketing material

Leipoldts - a popular South African themed restaurant in Brooklyn Pretoria

Dirk Meyer Designs - A wholesaler of handcrafted products and toys. Items are made from parasite wood (alien trees removed from indigenous forests) or other environment-friendly renewable resources such as coconut shells and sea shells.

FeatureReach This sophisticated design for an advertising and PR company offers subscribers a monthly newsletter outlining dates and contact information for Features in South African media.

Africa Bike Week - A long term client had a problem - a messy Rally website that had grown organically and had no-one to update it. We did a quick redesign, rewrote the content, added a gallery and had the new site up and running in 48 hours!

Shared Petroleum - a distributor and exporter of petroleum products to central and southern Africa. The site is small, but has a complex multipage form wizard. Users - many of whom do not speak English as a first language - are presented with questions in related groups.

The Couch Guys - a retailer of low cost home furnishings. Their pink and purple site needed updating, but the structure (created by the business owner in MS Office) was locked for editing. I promised that within just 8 hours from their initial phone call, I would completely redesign and rebuild the site... whew.

Pamodzi Industrials Over the years I have done 7 different websites for companies in the Pamodzi group. Each company has a different website, but all show the corporate brand.

GF Bridal Couture outfits nearly 1 000 brides each year with elegant gowns and accessories. The site gets over unique 4000 unique visitors each day from Africa and Europe. InterComm handles all copywriting and photography for collections, which are updated biannually. The site was last redesigned in 2006.

Mutemwa Lodge : One-of-a-kind, fly-in safaris for wildlife and bird watchers, fishing enthusiasts, and those wanting to experience the authentic culture of Africa.

Bryanston Lodge - a concise site for an executive guesthouse in Sandton

Harley Davidson - motorcycle dealerships. From 2004 - 2009 InterComm designed and maintained websites for three Harley-Davidson dealerships. In December 2009, the work was moved in-house with the dealerships maintaining their own websites.

Bidvest - I created their Corporate Financials website in 2005, and published financial results for 2 years, until the section was taken over by an internal Bidvest subsidiary.

Dawn Limited - an industrial holding company involved in logistics and warehousing. InterComm handled this account for 5 years. In 2008 the site was redesigned by the company's internal marketing team.

Pamodzi Gold - a JSE listed mining company. I created their first website in 2006, and maintained it for two years.

Cosira International is South Africa's largest private construction company. The site is now maintained in-house.

Gift Acres Residential Estate was a residential development in Pretoria. InterComm handled the branding and marketing of the Estate, including website, sales packs, copywriting, photography and media. (The complex is now fully sold, and the website closed)

Incentag New Directions : travel and destination management. The site has been superceded by a Group website for Bidvest.

Pegasus Steel is a steel service centre in Gauteng, specialising in rolling, bending and guillotining of steel. InterComm designed the website, wrote content and took photographs.
